There's a reason they call 'em the Smoky Mountains

Lotsa rain. Lotsa fog.  Lotsa pretty.

These pics (and hundreds of others - stream pics to come) were taken on a mad dash through Great Smoky Mountain National Park in early May.  This national park is the most visited in the entire national park system year after year by almost double the next most visited park, Grand Canyon.  Upon entering the park, it doesn't take long to figure out why so many people come - it's breathtakingly beautiful at every turn.  It's also one of the more accessible national parks since most tend to be fairly remote.

The following panorama is comprised of 7 individual pictures and forms an image 11,446 pixels wide.  It illustrates the color, expanse, and ever-present haze that gives this mountain range its name.
