This picture was taken during Civil Twilight at a cove near the northeast corner of the lake. It was still quite dark which means I had to open the shutter for quite a while. In this case - 15 seconds. With the shutter open so long it blurred all the wave motion and provided the image a much more tranquil feel.
For the geekier variety among us, Civil Twilight is actually a period of time just before sunrise. Before a little research, I just thought it meant the same thing as the dawn or early morning. Technically, Civil Twilight starts when the center of the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon and then ends as soon as the sun peaks above the horizon (a.k.a. sunrise). And you are a happier person now, aren't you?
